LETTER from the Dean

John HallDear Parents —

As summer approaches, I look forward to the excitment of Caltech's 114th Commencement and another year of academic success for those who will continue on next fall. Caltech beleives that parental support contributes to student success. We are pleased to bring our Parent Newsletter in hopes of keeping you involved in what is happening in your students' lives at Caltech.

If your student will be checking out of his or her room or moving into a summer housing assignment, I highly suggest you read Moving Out by Institute Housing. It has some great information about planning ahead for moving out, as well as information on summer contracts.

We also included an article on Caltech's Safety Net, which includes tips on how parents can get involved.

If you haven't had a chance to view the full-lenth documentary Quantum Hoops, about the Caltech men’s basketball team, it will be coming to DVD early this summer. The movie is definitely worth seeing and I hope if you haven't had a chance to see it yet, you will!

On Wednesday, May 21, 2008, Caltech seniors "ditched" their classes and left campus for the day for Caltech's annual "Ditch Day." On one day each spring, Caltech seniors plan elaborate tasks, puzzles, adventures, and scavenger hunts for undergraduate students, known as "stacks."click to full article
