Wouk Lecture Speaker to Focus on "Success Through Failure" March 30

Henry Petroski, an engineer who has written for his peers and students as well as the lay public about the engineering of large (bridges) and small (the pencil) objects, will discuss "Success through Failure: The Paradox of Design" when he gives the Wouk Lecture at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 30 in Beckman Institute Auditorium at the California Institute of Technology. The lecture and parking are free.

Poet Nikki Giovanni to Speak at Caltech

Celebrated poet, activist, and educator Nikki Giovanni will be the featured speaker at "An Evening with Nikki Giovanni," to be presented by the Caltech Y Social Activism Speaker Series at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, in Beckman Auditorium on the California Institute of Technology campus. The event is free and open to the public. Giovanni will sign books immediately after the event, and copies of her work can be purchased inside the auditorium.
