Fundamentals of Building a Multiplayer Console Game
Paul Robinson, Technical Director, Activision-Blizzard,
Speaker's Bio:
Paul Robinson is a Technical Director within Activision’s Central Technology team and has been developing video games for the past 30 years. Throughout his career he has developed early 3D graphics engines in the pre-pixel shader era, open world streaming systems, and online networking. During his talk he’ll outline techniques around memory, threading, optimization, and the fundamentals of building highly optimized multiplayer video games. He has worked for many notable companies like Ocean Software, Visual Concepts, 3DO, Neversoft, Rumble, and Activision. During his time in the gaming industry he’s worked on games like Jurassic Park, One, Army men, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Guitar Hero, and Call of Duty. He’s witnessed the evolution of console gaming from the days of home computers and Super Nintendo through all the versions of Xbox and PlayStation.
