Engelmann Oak Treated for Fungal Infection

The Engelmann Oak between Dabney Hall and Parsons-Gates Hall of Administration is more than 400 years old. It has exceeded its life expectancy by more than half a century, has been damaged by windstorms, stressed by an extended drought, and infected by a soil fungus.

In fall 2016, arborists treated the tree in a last effort to control what is likely an incurable fungus. The Institute is working closely with experts to determine the best course of action and will keep the campus community apprised of any significant developments.
